Overview of IT majors and IT graduates
I often read how teenagers who have just finished high school and want to go to college but are confused about which IT major to choose.
Therefore, I want to share a little knowledge about various IT majors, including the direction of the majors taken and how the skills are applied in the world of work.
For high school graduates who do not get enough information about the lecture majors, they often spend their lecture time in vain because the majors they take are not in accordance with their talents.
Why should you choose a major that matches your talents?
As we know, the character of every human being is different, as well as the talents they have. Some humans are gifted with talent above the average human, we often call them geniuses, they are humans with high IQs, the most obvious example of which we all know, he is Albert Einstein.
The difference between the gifted and the untalented is the speed at learning something
For human genius, learning something will be very easy and does not require a hard effort.
Everyone has their own strengths, but unfortunately most people don’t realize what their hidden talent is, or realize it too late and maybe some don’t even find it.
Based on my experience, sometimes someone’s talent is a hobby, because by making something a hobby, then all the trouble that gets in the way will be carried out with enthusiasm, the longer it will increase proficiency in the hobby, and ultimately make it a unique ability that is not possessed by people in general .
Various majors in the IT field and dominant fields that are directed as the final achievement after graduation
a. Technical Information
IT graduates are directed to become programmers, network engineers, web developers
b. Information Systems
become an analyst and pour its application in the application
c. Accounting computer

tool and computer liaison
e. Information Management
graduates become Chief Information Officer (CFO) who is able to lead the information system function within the company
f. Graphic Designer

Although there are directions for each major, it is possible for SI graduates to
become a programmer or network engineer
Weaknesses in the IT field compared to other fields?
I’ve heard discussions about graduates from the IT field compared to graduates from fields outside IT (the discussion has been around for quite a while), in the discussion IT experts said that actually the IT field is a field that is open to all graduates of other fields, which means that all graduates outside the IT field can enter the field. in the IT field, for example, graduates of the language field can become programmers on the condition that their skills enable them to become a programmer.
Meanwhile, IT graduates, in general, rarely enter fields that require a certain level of skill, for example, computer graduates rarely become architecture.
So if you have a question:
I want to work in the computer field but my degree is a language graduate, can it or not?
Yes, I even knew programmers but graduated from economics.
The difference between a degree and the field that you are engaged in applies also to all graduates of other fields, and for the IT field there is a little openness, namely being able to master computers by self-taught, this is because the sources of information on learning about computers are very open, starting from learning hardware, programming and networking.
However, for IT graduates or those who want to take the IT field, there is no need to worry because learning computers on a self-taught is not something that is easy to do and requires effort to achieve it.
